Cross Country tryouts are coming up! 👟 Coach Weller is holding an info meeting for ANY student to attend on Tuesday, May 7th during RTI. This is a chance for your child to ask allll the questions. Coach Weller is patient and understanding that all students come from a variety of backgrounds, whether it is an athletic background or not. There's no such thing as "too slow" or "not good enough" - only a starting point to learn, grow, and be a part of diverse teammates who cheer you on no matter what.
Tryouts will be on Saturday, May 11th at 7 am at the GHS Track. Please make sure your child is wearing a shoe they can run in, has sunscreen on, and has plenty of water to hydrate with!

TESTING IS TOMORROW ‼ Parents, please take note of the testing days coming up. We HIGHLY ENCOURAGE no student to miss ANY school these specific days. Please check your schedules and shuffle any doctor, dentist, or other appointments that might conflict with these testing dates. We thank you for understanding and working alongside us so that each student succeeds! 🧡
Great things are happening here at GMS! Just like our wrestling club, our cross-country club has grown tremendously! Our middle school XC athletes will now have an athletic period built into their schedule 👏👏👏

Yesterday, Ms. Rhea's 7th graders did a bottle flip challenge to collect experimental data! Even though many students were not successful at "landing" the bottle, they had a lot of fun seeing real math in action!!
ATTENTION 6TH GRADE PARENTS ‼ Last week, coaches met with current 6th graders who are interested in playing 7th-grade football next year. These were the two forms given to your child if they attended! 😊 If you have further questions, please reach out to Coach Kelby Bohannon. His contact info is in the letter below! 🦁

Our final hat day of the year is THIS FRIDAY. The cost is $1, like always. We encourage students and teachers to be creative (and of course... school appropriate)! The theme is books/movies. We're talking Harry Potter Sorting Hat, Cat in the Hat, Madhatter, Willy Wonka Top Hat, Captain Jack Sparrow, Princess Crowns...the possibilities are endless!
Congratulations to our Student Spotlight of the Week, Essie Strecker 🌟 Mrs. Methany said, "Essie is always ready and willing to help her teachers and classmates. She selflessly picks up trash off the floor after other students leave the classroom or even just holds the door when students file in from the courtyard in the morning. The care she shows for her school does not go unnoticed." ☺
Tune in next week to see who our next Student Spotlight will be 🌟

As many of you may know, our school is raising money for our beloved Mr. Lewis, who faced a tragic house fire and lost everything dear to him, including his wife of 35+ years. All money raised from hat days, general donations, and this "Loot for Lewis" event will go straight to Mr. Lewis! Plus, the grade level with the most donations will have 2 student representatives PIE 2 teachers in the face. 🥧 Let's rally together and show Mr. Lewis that LION COMMUNITY PRIDE! 🦁
Congratulations to our Student Spotlight of the Week, Kyleigh Stephens 🌟 Mrs. Deaton said, "Kyleigh encompasses the qualities of everything I would hope my child would have. Her heart is HUGE! She showed compassion, empathy, and kindness during a fundraiser for someone who had experienced a tragedy. Kyleigh sold her family’s product, freeze dried candy, to raise money for a recent fundraiser. When speaking with her dad, I was told it was completely her idea and she did all of the work. She sold nearly $400 worth of candy and gave 100% of the proceeds to the fundraiser. When told how amazing her generosity was, Kyleigh humbly said thank you and acted like it was just the right thing to do. Watching her determination and excitement for the good she was doing made my heart swell. I’m so grateful for students like Kyleigh, and hope that her example has shown others a difference that one person can make in our community and world!"
Tune in next week to see who our next Student Spotlight will be 🌟
