Just before the break, Gravette Middle School's Kids 4 Kids held an assembly for donations! We're so proud of our incredible Kids 4 Kids (K4K) Club for their amazing efforts to support the Ronald McDonald House Charity!
Our K4K Club continues to actively collect pop tabs and hand-made tie blankets to donate to RMHC of Arkoma. These small acts of kindness can make a BIG difference for families in need! If you’d like to contribute, pop tab donations are still being accepted at the middle school office. Every tab counts!
On Thursday, we had the privilege of welcoming Ellen Hoelscher, Director of Development at Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) of Arkoma, to our school! She shared valuable insights about the incredible work RMHC does for families with infants who face long hospital stays. Ellen’s presentation highlighted the vital support RMHC provides, from comfortable accommodations to hot meals, ensuring families can focus on what truly matters — their child's health and recovery.
We were also honored to hear from Mr. and Mrs. Wegner, who shared their heartfelt testimony about how RMHC made a significant impact on their lives during a challenging time. Their story was a powerful reminder of the importance of community support and compassion.
Thank you, Ellen and the Wegner family, for inspiring our students and staff with your stories and dedication to helping others! Together, we can continue to support families in need. ❤️
A special shoutout to Wateena Ahrens for generously donating a huge water jug to help with our collection efforts! Your kindness is truly appreciated!
You can sign up for a meal donation for the RMHC rooms in Rogers or Fayetteville with the following link: https://rmhcofarkoma.org/get-involved/share-a-meal/

Today, we join other schools and communities across the nation in celebrating National Inclusion and Special Education Day, a day dedicated to embracing and honoring the diversity that makes each of us unique.
Inclusion is more than just a word—it's a mindset and a commitment to creating environments where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered. In schools, inclusion is vital because it ensures that every student, regardless of their background, or abilities, has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Here’s why inclusion is so important in schools:
1) Fosters Empathy and Understanding: When we learn and grow alongside peers from diverse backgrounds, we develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for different perspectives. --
2) Builds Stronger Communities: Inclusive classrooms and schools promote unity and teach us that we are stronger when we work together. --
3) Empowers Everyone to Succeed: When students feel included, they are more confident, engaged, and motivated to reach their full potential. --
4) Prepares Us for the Future: In an increasingly global and diverse world, learning to collaborate and respect differences is a skill that benefits everyone. -
Today, let’s recommit to being kind, supportive, and inclusive. Whether it’s reaching out to someone new, standing up against exclusion, or simply being a good listener, every action counts. Together, we can make our school a place where everyone belongs, because All means All.
You may see our schools' educators wearing our inclusion day shirts, "Y'all means All" . We hope to embrace that as we move our students forward in the inclusive environments we are all striving to help create in Gravette schools.
Warm regards,
Tyler A. Matlock, Ed.S
Director of Special Education
Gravette School District

Don’t forget! Our parent meeting for Title 1 is happening tomorrow, November 21, from 7:45 to 8:15 AM at the Lion Community Learning Center (located beside the administration building). This is your chance to talk academic support, student goals, and explore how to get involved supporting your child’s education. We look forward to seeing you there and partnering together for student success! https://www.gravetteschools.net/title1
All are welcome to join us on Nov 21 at 7:45am for coffee and breakfast snacks while we discuss the Title I Program at Glenn Duffy Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Gravette Middle School. We will give an overview of the program, discuss student goals, share parental involvement opportunities, and there will be a Q&A session. We will have representatives from all three schools, so all parents are welcome!
Title I is a federally funded program that provides extra academic support to students in the areas of reading and/or math. One of the goals of the program is to improve the academic achievement of the students who struggle the most. The purpose of the title is to ensure that all children have an equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. According to the U.S. Department of Education, students should be able to reach, at minimum, proficiency on the challenging state academic assessments and standards.
Join us Nov 21 at 7:45am in the Lion Community Center (beside administration building). The meeting will last around 30 minutes.
We're hiring bus drivers and we'll pay for training! If you know anyone who needs a great part-time job with flexible hours, health and retirement benefits, and opportunities for additional hours, send them to https://www.gravetteschools.net/drive and fill out an application today.

On Veterans Day we recognize the remarkable men and women who have served their country. From those on the front lines to those providing critical support behind the scenes, every service member forms a network of strength, skills, and resilience that keeps our armed forces operating and defending us all. Today, we express our gratitude for every veteran, in every role, who has contributed to safeguarding our freedom and well-being. Thank you for your service.
"On Veterans Day we honor all,
Who answered to a service call.
Soldiers young, and soldiers old,
Fought for freedom, brave and bold.
Some have lived, while others died,
And all of them deserve our pride. "
- “Veterans Day” by Cheryl Dyson

To wrap up Red Ribbon Week, our students had the incredible experience of watching local law enforcement K9 units in action! Officers introduced their highly trained K9 partners and demonstrated how these amazing dogs help protect our community by tracking contraband and keeping schools safe.
What an amazing display of dedication, teamwork, and trust between officers and their K9s as they work together to prevent drug abuse. A huge thank you to our law enforcement partners for helping us make this Red Ribbon Week one to remember! ❤️

Students in Mrs. Wegner and Mrs. Elrod's 7th grade English classes just finished reading the timeless classic, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. At the conclusion of the novel students had the opportunity to dress up as either a Soc or Greaser. Stay Gold Lions! #LionPride
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton follows the struggles of two rival groups, the Greasers and the Socs, as they navigate the challenges of adolescence, family, and social class in 1960s America. The Socs are wealthy, privileged youths who often display a carefree attitude but hide their own insecurities and emotional struggles beneath their cool exterior. The Greasers are a group of working-class boys who embrace their rough image and loyalty to each other, often facing prejudice and hardship from society due to their socioeconomic status. The story is told through the eyes of Ponyboy Curtis, a young Greaser who finds himself caught in a violent conflict that forces him to confront issues of identity and belonging. It is considered a classic due to its authentic portrayal of teenage angst and social divides, resonating with readers across generations.
