Gravette Upper Elementary had the chance to travel to the high school and enjoy the play from Gravette High School's Theatre Program! For many of these young audience members, it was their very first experience with live theater. Mr. Galloway opened the presentation by telling the kids the High School Drama class chose to perform "Rhubarb Jam" specifically because Elementary students would enjoy the colorful, high-energy play.
Not only did they get to enjoy a fantastic show, but they also saw what’s possible for them in the future as part of our school’s theater program. It was a wonderful way for younger students to connect with their older peers and be inspired by the dedication and talent on stage. All are welcome to join us on Nov 21 at 7:45am for coffee and breakfast snacks while we discuss the Title I Program at Glenn Duffy Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Gravette Middle School. We will give an overview of the program, discuss student goals, share parental involvement opportunities, and there will be a Q&A session. We will have representatives from all three schools, so all parents are welcome!
Title I is a federally funded program that provides extra academic support to students in the areas of reading and/or math. One of the goals of the program is to improve the academic achievement of the students who struggle the most. The purpose of the title is to ensure that all children have an equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. According to the U.S. Department of Education, students should be able to reach, at minimum, proficiency on the challenging state academic assessments and standards.

Congratulations to Mrs. Robinson at Upper Elementary on her $500 award from Arvest Bank's “We Love Teachers” initiative!
With this generous gift from Arvest, Mrs. Robinson will expand our calming centers and provide sensory-friendly resources to help students develop essential self-regulation and conflict-resolution skills. These resources give our kids the tools they need to find calm, focus, and confidence—skills they’ll carry far beyond the classroom.
Dr. Barrett nominated Mrs. Robinson because of her true passion and dedication to our students. In addition to being a devoted counselor, she also runs leadership programs including Business Buddies. This program has local professionals, including one of our very own Arvest moms, engage with students to explore different fields and gain hands-on insights into economics and business.

To wrap up Red Ribbon Week, our students had the incredible experience of watching local law enforcement K9 units in action! Officers introduced their highly trained K9 partners and demonstrated how these amazing dogs help protect our community by tracking contraband and keeping schools safe.
What an amazing display of dedication, teamwork, and trust between officers and their K9s as they work together to prevent drug abuse. A huge thank you to our law enforcement partners for helping us make this Red Ribbon Week one to remember! ❤️

Three students won the school bus coloring contest for School Bus Safety Week! Hayden from 3rd grade, Pine from 4th grade, and Megan from 5th grade. Their prize was a Gift Card to Walmart. Through this coloring contest, students were given a creative way to engage with important safety practices like staying seated, crossing safely, and respecting the bus driver’s instructions. This contest gave children the space to explore safety concepts in a hands-on way, reinforcing their understanding of how to stay safe in and around school buses. Events like this not only celebrate young artists but also help instill lifelong habits that protect students on their daily rides to and from school.

Gravette Mayor Kurt Maddox recently stopped by Gravette Upper Elementary to talk to children about our town and his role! Ms. Rogers and Mrs. Roach's class had this great opportunity for interactive learning about civics as he answered questions from the students. Thank you to Mayor Maddox for being a role model to the children and showing the importance of active citizenship. This experience will leave a lasting impression on the students!
