Today, our 8th-graders traveled to GHS and learned what next year will have in store for them! PSA for 8th-grade parents ❗ In years past, the HS has had a 'registration night' where parents come and help choose their child's courses for next year, but this year it will be slightly different! GHS Counselor, Mrs. Eaves, is going to meet with ALL the 8th-graders (during school hours) over the next couple of weeks and help them choose their courses. A physical copy of that completed course sheet with go home with your child! Be on the lookout. All communication regarding your child's schedule will be done via email. So have your 8th-grader be checking their school email along with your personal email 📩 Closer to August, GHS will have an Open House for Freshmen ONLY - along with Freshman Bootcamp. We are still deciding on the date for this and will announce it once it's finalized!

Just a reminder! HAT DAY is TOMORROW thanks to GMS PTO 🥳 If your child would like to wear a hat to school on Friday, have them bring $1 to the GMS PTO ladies that will be set up in the cafeteria that morning. Your child will receive a stamp on their hand and be set! If your child is in athletics in the morning, they can go to the cafeteria before 2nd hour and still pay to wear a hat 👍

Student SHOUT OUT 📢 Congratulations to 8th-grader, Anna Brown, for doing so well at "The Ultimate Shake" competition at the Jones Center last week! This competition takes kids from all over NWA and puts them in different situations to challenge their character and leadership skills. And of course, actual handshakes were a big part of it! When asked where did she learn to get such a solid handshake, Anna replied, "Shakin' everybody's hands at church on Sundays!"
Since it is National Poetry Month, Mr. Walker decided to make this month's library contest a poetry challenge! Students must write a poem about reading and be at least 50 words. 📃
6th-grade skills eval practice is coming up May 2nd! 🏐 If your child would like to be a part of the 2023 7th-grade volleyball team, both of you must attend this practice!
Student SHOUT OUT 📢 Mrs. Cremente wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to 7th-grader, Jaylea Amos, for taking an ugly, falling down, unused bulletin board in the hallway and turning it into a colorful and cheerful way to spread inspiration to her fellow lions. 🧡
Mark your calendars! GMS's musical theater class is doing High School Musical for their spring show this year. Show times will be Friday, May 5th, and Saturday, May 6th both at 7 pm in the Old Gym. We can't wait to see our talented students shine! 🎬
Don't forget! Next Saturday, Thrive Athletics is hosting a Youth Track Meet for ages 5-12. We had a great turnout last year and want to continue the fun! Coach Weller's famous quote is "Anyone can run!". So encourage your child to give it a try!
