Coach Pittman's outdoor education classes put together mountain bikes today! Just in time for the crisp fall weather comin' in 🍂

Yesterday, Ms. Hawkins and Ms. Smithers took a group of students to the University of Arkansas for a tour and to the Washington County College Fair at Fayetteville HS!

Last week, the current seniors earned an ICE CREAM PARTY! This was for winning the most pep-rallies last school year. 🍦

Last week, Culinary II ended their week-long project with a sandwich. Students were able to select a staff member of their choice. They had to come up with interview questions, interview them, design a sandwich based on their personality, then create a shopping list, and decorate their to-go box with the sandwich name and description. Finally, they created their sandwiches today and delivered them to their staff member with chips, a dessert, and a drink for lunch! All students received raving reviews for their restaurant like quality, taste, and creativity!

Today, we honor the bravery, sacrifice, and unity of those who responded to the call of duty and the innocent souls lost. We will never forget.

Yesterday, GHS Career Coach, Ms. Smithers, held a community breakfast at our Lion Community Learning Center! Community members from all over joined and learned how we could partner together to benefit our students. 🦁

GHS FCCLA held a membership drive this morning! All paid members were able to take part in a pancake breakfast.

GET EXCITED 🥳 Our very own Assistant Principal, Mr. Schoonover, is getting behind the keyboard and bringing GHS's monthly 'wins' straight to you! His enthusiasm and passion for our students and lion pride explode off the page and keeps you wanting more. This is a blog you'll never want to miss! The first issue drops THIS COMING THURSDAY 9AM. 👀 #ourpride

Here are last week's players of the week against Pea Ridge! Tonight we play Inola at 7pm! Come on out and support our lions!

Earlier this week, Ms. Lykins's child development class made Sensory Bottles 😍 They are learning about the different theories within child development. This was an extension to talking about Piaget's stage of Sensorimotor!

Mrs. Hendrick's Art 2 & 3 students are making their own sketchbooks by hand. They create the covers and then sew the inside pages together. One of her students stated, "If you take care of it, this sketchbook will last a long time. I still have mine from last year!"

Update from our Counseling Center ❗ Mrs. Hawkins wanted to make sure our student-athletes who might be moving on to play collegiate sports knew about this webinar! It will be held on Sunday, September 17th at 5pm. Check it out! Click here to register: https://mc97gsxn49y6wmpf4p2n764zq7z1.pub.sfmc-content.com/4rviddiytvu

Lady Lions and their Lion Pride Student Section are celebrating a big 3-0 win over Harrison tonight! We are Lion Pride! We lead the way in everything we pursue. Go Lions!

Last week in Mrs. Kildow's Algebra 3 class, they reviewed linear relationships! Students compared the cost of different ice creams with toppings at Coldstone Creamery to find the cost per topping. Then they wrote an equation and represented this on a graph to show the relationship between the number of toppings and the cost of the ice cream. In a thinking classroom students share their thinking and write it on vertical surfaces. This allows for mobilized learning! Students can compare and defend their thinking with other groups and if they get "stuck" they can just look around the room.

WE NEED YOUR VOTES! Our Gravette Lion football team has been nominated for Yarnell's Sweetest Play of the Week and if they get enough votes the team wins an ice cream party. Let's get our boys what they deserve for their hard work on the field! Click this link to vote: https://poll.fm/12692375

Join us in welcoming Officer Savage to the lion family! 🦁 Officer Savage will be the SRO at GHS since Officer McKenzie retired this past year. If you see him out and about, give him a smile and a wave! He said, "I can be called Officer Savage or just Savage. The little ones say "Hey Savage!" and it makes me laugh. I'm excited to be here!!" #experiencethepride
