Bus Safety Week Winners

This year’s School Bus Safety Week included a coloring contest aimed at promoting safety awareness among young students. One selected entry for each grade won a set of Twistable Crayons and a Bluey coloring book. Through this coloring contest, students were given a creative way to engage with important safety practices like staying seated, crossing safely, and respecting the bus driver’s instructions. This contest gave children the space to explore safety concepts in a hands-on way, reinforcing their understanding of how to stay safe in and around school buses. Events like this not only celebrate young artists but also help instill lifelong habits that protect students on their daily rides to and from school.

Parents can help protect their children from danger around the bus stop with the acronym S.A.F.E.

  • Stay at least ten feet—five giant steps—away from the curb.

  • Always wait for the bus to stop completely and the bus driver to signal it’s safe to board.

  • Face forward after finding a seat on the bus.

  • Exit the bus after it stops, wait for the bus driver to signal it’s safe to cross, and then look left-right-left for cars before crossing a street in front of the bus, never behind.
