THROWBACK THURSDAY 🦁 We are highlighting one of Gravette’s first bus driver’s Haskell (Hack) Jackson. He was born April 20, 1899. According to Hack’s family, the same year he started driving the school bus was when his son, Horace Jackson, was born. In fact, Horace just had his 84th birthday a few weeks ago! Over Hack’s lifetime, he was a master plumber and would work on electrical and plumbing in many homes in the Gravette and surrounding areas. Hack even helped build a few homes in town and they are still standing today! Along with Horace, Hack had two other children - Betty and Robert. Two of the three children graduated from Gravette High School and represented that Lion Pride! Thank you Horace/Dolores Jackson and other family members for sharing your family's history with us 🧡 #experiencethepride

THROWBACK THURSDAY 🦁 Gravette shoots, it sinks, they SCORE and WIN against Bentonville in the state tourney in Jonesboro. 🏀 Winning has always been apart of our Lion pride ever since 1940! Our boy’s basketball team, coached by Weston Ellis at the time, defeated Bentonville and were state champs. When it was time to head back home, the team decided they needed a grand gesture to remember the moment, and so Oscar, the French bulldog, was bought! The entire team signed Oscar and displayed him in school afterwards. 🏫 Want to continue learning more? Head on over to the Gravette Historical Museum! #experiencethepride

THROWBACK THURSDAY 🦁 Let's jump back to 1982 together! Imagine, it's almost the end of the school year and seniors are brewing a plan on what their senior prank will be. Several ideas are up for grabs and suddenly the perfect prank dawns on them. The next morning, students and teachers at Gravette High School (which is now the Middle school) are going about their normal day...until a scream erupts. Everyone rushes to the bathrooms to find CATFISH in the toilets 🎣 Thankfully, the principal at that time, James Reiner, took the prank like a champ! Thank you to Gravette School District's very own, Richard Carver, for providing this week's Throwback and giving us a good laugh 🤣

SCHOOLS OUT 🎉 We are SO proud of everything our students have accomplished and can't wait to see y'all next year! Have a GREAT summer, Lions 🦁 #experiencethepride

THROWBACK THURSDAY. Continuing on from last week's post - fast forward to 1931. Gravette School District is starting to grow more and more! With this growth, two trucks were purchased from Cato Chevrolet and L.A. Baugh. They were altered so that they could start transporting children! Although we do not know Gravette’s first bus driver from that time, we do know that in 1938 Gravette hired Homer Fansler to drive a bus to bring pupils from west of Gravette to school! And two years after that hired Haskell Jackson and E. M. Berry to drive two new 45-passenger school buses. Below are pics of what the buses might have looked like back then 🚍

OVER 56 runners in grades 6-12th completed the Gravette Running Time Trial yesterday at the track! 👟 These are the athletes that took up the call and are interested in running cross country this upcoming fall! This group will join the legacy of Gravette HS Girls being ranked #1 in class 4A and Gravette HS Boys being ranked #10. We can’t wait for this amazing group to show us what they’ve got this season! 🏃♂️
