Gravette Upper Elementary Art Teacher Mrs. Knuckles has been decorating the walls with the wonderful work of GUE's Artists in Training! 3rd grade created pop art names using mostly primary colors, bold outlines, repeated patterns, and Benday dots. 4th & 5th grade WIN groups spelled a four letter word with strips of paper, identified and measured all of the angles on their letters, and then made the words look like a neon sign using oil pastel! And then of course the dot wall, which has artwork featuring dots to celebrate Dot Day. It's truly amazing to see the work of student artists filling the hallways. #LionPride
Have you ever heard school work isn't rocket science? These students at Gravette Middle School certainly haven't! Mr. Leach's Science Class has entered the explosive finale of their lessons on the laws of motion today with the culmination of their experiments on mass and acceleration. Students added air pressure to 2-liter bottles of water using a bike pump and sent their custom-designed rockets skyward at amazing speeds. By measuring the amount of water and the time each rocket spent airborne, the students were able to compare designs to find out which rocket was the most efficient.

Students at Gravette Upper Elementary are celebrating International Dot Day! This celebration was inspired by the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. The author says "Dot Day is a celebration of creativity and art. A celebration of innovation, of community- local and globally- a celebration of “dot connecting”. Dot Day is a celebration of great teaching and inspired learning. Self-discovery and self-expression. It is a celebration of bravery-of-vision- seeing the possible – seeing the solution before it even exists. Dot Day is a celebration of impact- a time to think of how we can all make our mark."
This week has seen an increase in threats against schools across the country. We are aware of these situations and are responding to issues on a local level. We have coordinated with the Gravette Police Department to provide extra security this week. We have no credible or specific threats against any of our schools. Our staff appreciates the support of our police, parents and community as we work together to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our students. Verifying the accuracy of shared information is a collective responsibility. Please look to the school district and police department for accurate information. Updates will be issued as new information becomes available.
